Saudi Acwa Power inks deals for Rabigh-3 IWP

(MENAFN) Acwa Power consortium with Saudi Brothers Commercial Company (SBCC) penned deals for works related to the massive Rabigh-3 IWP valued at USD700 million.

The Saudi water desalination plants will be producing 600,000 cu m of water daily upon its completion, marking it as a major seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) desalination plan.

A consortium of SepcoIII (Power China), Abengoa and Sidem (Veolia) received the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) agreement for the Saudi project.

"As this region embarks on an extensive desalination capacity procurement programme, with four large projects already in the market and a number of additional projects in pipeline, we are proud to have closed Rabigh-3 as a demonstrator for how the recent price and technology evolution in reverse-osmosis desalination has made this an affordable and efficient solution for potable water production for countries around the region," stated Acwa Power President and CEO Paddy Padmanathan.
