Iran marks surge in fish, shrimp output

(MENAFN) Iranian fish and shrimp production was announced to have stood at 1.2 million annually to record a considerable growth in the market.

Agriculture deputy minister, Nabiollah Khoun Mirzaei confirmed that Iran was able to generate around 725,000 tons of fish through northern and southern waters while the remaining tons come from fish farms.

The deputy minister further unveiled Iran to be looking for a boost in fish output to reach 1.5 million tons by 2021.

Mirzaei added "currently, there are some restrictions on fishing in coastal water resources; so, it is impossible to permit hunting that would exceed the said amount."
