(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) MAHMOOD RAQI (Pajhwok): The mayor for Nijrab district of central Kapisa province has been introduced to the attorneys for negligence and corruption in distribution of land plots to the families of fallen soldiers, officials said Friday.
Meanwhile, families of the martyred Afghan National Army troops also said they were introduced to the municipality by the Ministry of Defense to obtain land plots, but the municipality was yet to perform the task.
A resident of Kapisa province, Agha Gul, said his soldier son was killed in line of duty in the Sangin district of southern Helmand province.
'The Defense Ministry gave me a paper and introduced me to the Kabul Municipality which referred me to the Nijrab municipality, but I could not receive the plot in 16 months,' he said.
Another resident, Gul Zaman, said his application for the land plot had long been pending at the Nijrab municipality.
'My son was killed in Farah province. I was also told at the time that the Nijrabi municipality is distributing land to families of martyred soldiers. But four years on, I am yet to receive the plot.'
Similar complaints were made by other families, but officials at the Nijrab municipality refused to talk about the matter.
However, Kapisa governor's spokesman Qais Qaderi said the Nijrab mayor had been introduced to the attorney's office over negligence and corruption in distribution of land plots to the families of martyred troops.
'For these families, 150 acres of land has been earmarked, but the mayor committed negligence and even sold some plots,' he said.
