Total Solar achieves milestone of 20 MW of distributed solar in UAE

DUBAI, 19th February, 2019 (WAM) -- Total Solar Middle East, a 100 percent owned Total subsidiary dedicated to solar activities, will install around 950 kilowatt of solar capacity at Total Lubricants Blending UAE located at Jebel Ali. The facility will be equipped with over 2,000 high-efficiency SunPower E-Series solar panels, providing long-term reliability and maximum performance compared to conventional solar panels.

Active in the Middle East for less than a year, Total Solar Middle East has already signed a number of projects with a solar capacity of over 20 megawatt (MW) which is equivalent to the amount of electricity required to power over 3,000 households.

"The solarisation of the Jebel Ali facility is a first milestone in our expansion in the UAE solar market, offering great potential. "The project is fully aligned with Total's ambition of becoming the responsible energy major and its commitment to develop low-carbon energies. The solar installations will cover over 50 percent of the plant's electricity needs allowing to reduce our carbon emissions by almost 700 tons per year while reducing its operating costs," said Thibaud de Lisle, Managing Director, Total Marketing Middle East.
