About 44,000 people are being employed in Iran for the construction and production of every 50 mW (megawatt) wind power station, said Akbar Adibfar, CEO of Iran Renewable Energy Association, Trend reports referring to IRIB.
Adibfar states that, according to the UN Climate Convention, more than 90 million liters of diesel fuel were saved at the 100-mW Takestan Wind Power Station.
Adibfar added that the creation of the aforementioned wind power station has prevented the emission of 250,000 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2).
"At the same time, this station has allowed for 250,000 cubic meters of water to be saved," he said.
Adibfar said that the wind and solar power stations are at peak production levels during the warm season of the year, and added that the production rates at thermal power plants are minimal during peak consumption levels of electricity.
