(MENAFN) On Monday, a blast rocked Egypt's capital, Cairo, when a man blasted himself behind Al-Azhar mosque, local media reported.
As many as two police officers were murdered and another two were wounded in the suicide attack in the Al Darb al-Ahmar neighborhood, the Interior Ministry stated in a statement.
The explosion took place after police surrounded the suspect after a chase.
According to a report by local news site Egypt Today, security forces recognized the assailant as Al Hasan Abdullah, 37, who lived in the old neighborhood.
