Doha: The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, will participate in the 24th edition of Muscat International Book Fair slated to be held from February 21 to March 2.
The Ministry of Culture and Sports saidthat itwould participate in the exhibition organised by the Ministry of Heritage and Culture in the Sultanate of Oman through a special pavilion, which includes a large collection of literary, historical, heritage and intellectual issues, in addition to the Ministry periodicals and publications of Qatari publishing houses.
The Qatari taking part in the exhibition follows the participation of the Ministry of Culture and Sports in the 25th edition of the International Book Fair in Casablanca, which recently ended.
The new participation of the Ministry of Culture and Sports comes at the Muscat exhibition as part of the exchange between the Doha International Book Fair and the Muscat International Book Fair. The pavilion of the State of Qatar will be represented by the Libraries Department at the Ministry of Culture and Sports, in cooperation with Lusail Publishing House, which will showcase Qatari intellectual production.
The Qatari publications participating in the Muscat International Book Fair are of great interest to the exhibition's visitors and the reading public in Oman. Qatar is keen to participate every year in the Muscat International Book Fair due to its importance as one of the largest and most important Arabic book fairs.
The Muscat International Book Fair will be attended by some 882 publishers representing 30 Arab and foreign countries. The pavilions will comprise approximately 523,000 titles, of which 35 percent represent recent editions. For the first time, countries including China, Bulgaria, Canada and Sri Lanka will take part in the exhibition.
