(MENAFN) The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai was announced to have inaugurated a key bridge on Saturday.
According to the RTA, the project is part of the fifth stage of the planned network of roads for the Dubai Expo 2020.
Phase five is scheduled for conclusion by June this year, the RTA announced before confirming the location of the bridge at the intersection of Expo Road and Al Asayel Street.
Director-General and Chairman Mattar Al Tayer stated that "RTA has partially opened three lanes in each direction of the bridge on Expo Road. This phase includes the construction of bridges extending 2.6km and roads spanning about 3km."
Al Tayer added that "Expo Road will be widened to six lanes in each direction over a 3km sector. Two service roads will be added to ease the present traffic condition."
