Nigeria: 66 die in gunmen attack ahead of presidential election


(MENAFN) Nigerian authorities declared that 66 people have died in a gun attack by unknown men in Kajuru area of the northern state of Kaduna on the eve of the country's presidential election.

State government spokesman Samuel Aruwan confirmed that eight settlements were stormed early Friday, as the victims included 22 children and 12 women.

Aruwan added that the motive behind the attack was not determined yet, and some security operatives had been dispatched to the attacked areas.

Some suspects have been nabbed in links to the fatal attack, according to Aruwan.
