Afghanistan: 7 militants die in gunfights with security forces


(MENAFN) Army spokesman in the northern region Mohammad Hanif Rezai declared that up to seven militants have died as four more were wounded as gunfights broke out in Garziwan district of Afghanistan's northern Faryab province on Saturday.

The official confirmed that the gunfight took place early morning after the militants stormed some security checkpoints, and security forces fired back forcing the militants to escape ditching seven bodies behind, and four others wounded.

The official added that there haven't been any fatalities on security personnel.

Taliban militants haven't made any statements on the incident yet.
