UAE- Al Wahda return to winning ways ahead of Al Wasl clash

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Al Wahda returned to winning ways as they defeated Dibba 3-1 at Al Nahyan Stadium in Round 15 of the Arabian Gulf League on Friday, a press release said.

Al Wahda controlled the earliest stages of the match and proved to be more dangerous. On the 14-minute mark, the Clarets broke the deadlock through Khalil Al Hammadi.

Dibba's keeper initially blocked Sebastian Tagliabue's right-footed low curler from the edge of the box, before the number 77 pounced on the rebound and slotted home.

Less than two minutes later, Ahmed Alebri wasted a glorious chance to double Al Wahda's lead.

The midfielder's clever back-heel effort hit Abdulla Al Nasri's left post after his initial close range volleyed strike cannoned off the woodwork.

Seven minutes after the restart, Diogo Farias intercepted the ball from Al Wahda's defender in a dangerous zone and squared it towards Yaseen Bakheet. The Jordan international drilled the ball into the bottom corner, leveling things up for the visitors.

Tagliabue restored the lead for the Clarets in the 57th minute when he advanced towards the box and dribbled skillfully past Yaser Al Jneibi before finishing the ball calmly into the back of Al Nasri's net.

In the fourth minute of injury time, Chang Rim found Leonardo De Sousa in space after a careless howler from Al Nasri.

Sousa capitalised on the keeper's error as he easily sent the ball home into the empty net to make it 3-1.

Al Wahda remain sixth with 24 points ahead of their anticipated clash against Al Wasl on February 21.

Meanwhile, Dibba remain at the league table's rock bottom with just four points and are set to face Emirates Club in Round 16.
