Doha: In celebration of the National Sport Day, Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) held yesterday diverse sports, recreational, informative, and medical activities for dozens of visitors.
All events kicked off at 7am in a good weather and festive atmosphere, and the visitors engaged actively in QRCS's sports matches designed for both adults and kids, such as warmup workouts, football, jumping, telematch, and other games. Along with many QRCS staff members and volunteers, the section was visited by Ibrahim Al-Maliki, Executive Director, and Abdullah Al-Mulla, Director of Communication.
'For almost a decade, Qatar has been working to promote sports for everyone. We cherish physical activity, warm days, good health, and well-being, said Al-Mulla in a statement to the media. 'Today, Qatar looks like ‘one big sports field', where kids, adults, men, women, and even old persons find a place to do something positive.
He noted that QRCS was present at all times, but such occasions required intensified efforts to deal with the crowds who flocked to parks, clubs, and arenas. 'This year, we can be found in Katara and Al-Khor. Our visitors received healthy food and beverages, physical exercises, and medical examinations. The visitors also underwent vital signs tests using high-tech medical equipment, and they attended an advising session on healthy diet.
As regards medical coverage, QRCS deployed a fleet of 27 ambulance vehicles, 150 medical professionals, and one first-aid unit across a wide range of festivity locations, including the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) Park, Doha Corniche, Aspire Zone, Katara, the Education City, The Pearl-Qatar, Qatar SC, Al-Arabi SC, Al-Sadd SC, Ashghal, College of the North Atlantic (CNA) Qatar, Al-Fardan Group, Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, AFG College with the University of Aberdeen, Losail International Circuit, Doha Marine Sports Club, and Doha Festival City.
