Queen Maxima visits Central Bank of Jordan

Amman, Feb.12 (Petra) - Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, the UN Secretary General's Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development., on Tuesday, visited the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) and met with its Governor Ziad Fariz.

Fariz commended Queen Maxima's role in supporting financial inclusion as a UN Special Envoy for Inclusive Finance for Development, stressing that her visit to Jordan at this stage is an appreciation of the Kingdom's efforts in this regard.

Fariz spoke about what has been achieved in the implementation of the national strategy for financial inclusion, which includes providing financing for small and medium enterprises, as well as regulating the microfinance sector, enhancing the role of women and protecting the financial consumer.

He pointed to the achievements made in spreading the financial culture as one of the pillars and efforts at the national level in the development of electronic payment services.

For her part, Queen Maxima commended efforts exerted in the field of financial inclusion and toward enabling the target groups' to access financial services.

She stressed the need to make more efforts to expand the base of electronic financial services.
