Philippines: death toll of Measles rises to 70


(MENAFN) Over 70 people, mainly children under four years of age, have died in measles outbreak in the Philippines.

Local authorities have accused vaccine hesitancy for the health issue.

The fatalities took place since the start of the year, however, the department of health in a announced that the outbreak has severed last week and over and at least 4300 people have shown symptoms of measles, a very infectious disease transmitted through the air.

The authorities have issued an alarm in five regions, although the highest toll of infected cases has been recorded from Manila and its suburbs.
