Daughter of Hong Kong tycoon's home broken into

(MENAFN- Asia Times) Police have launched an investigation into a burglary at an apartment at the Peak belonging to Dee Poon Chu-ying, the daughter of HK tycoon Dickson Poon.

At 9 am on Sunday, police received a call from a 28-year-old Filipina domestic worker saying the window of an apartment of Cragside Mansion on 23 Barker Road had been forced open, the Sing Tao Daily reported. The maid also found the bedroom and the walk-in closet had been ransacked.

Some jewelry and cash in a safe and two mobile phones were missing. The domestic worker, who is employed by Poon's mother Marjorie Yang Mun-tak in the same building, discovered the burglary on Thursday. However, as Poon and Yang were out of town for vacation, the worker did not know what to do.

On Saturday, Yang returned from overseas and the domestic worker immediately informed her of the break-in. They called police on Sunday. At 3 pm on Sunday, police found a 32-year-old mainland Chinese man wandering on Barker Road, the Oriental Daily reported.

As the man could not give a reason for being in the area, he was arrested and charged with loitering. Officers did not rule out the possibility that the man could be related to the burglary.
