By Elnur Baghishov - Trend:
There is an annual demand for about 1 to 1.5 million apartments in Iran, said Mehrdad Bauj-Lahuti, a member of the Iranian Parliament's Budgeting and Accounting Commission, Trend reports referring to Mehr News Agency.
According to Bauj-Lahuti, there currently exists no stability between the supply and demand in Iran's housing sector, which, in turn, has led to inflation.
Bauj-Lahuti also said the number of homes needed for young Iranian couples annually stands at 800,000.
"Due to this not being met, the demand has been massively accumulated."
Bauj-Lahuti stated that the government should not only build new apartments for the next year (begins March 21, 2019), but also address the issue of deficits of the previous years.
