U.S. schools close amid heavy snowstorms

(MENAFN) Many schools in the U.S. state of Washington will be closed for next Monday's school day, due to heavy snowstorms.

According to news outlet KEPR TV, there will be no preschool classes, and all other activities in some schools and colleges involving events, athletic practices, fitness centers and even library use will be canceled.

Heavy snow covered Washington since Friday and through Saturday, and the National Weather Service said the unusual winter weather brought some areas around Seattle more than 10 inches of snow on Saturday, "the most in February in 70 years."

Major roads have been closed overnight by Washington State Department because of snow.
