Qatar Charity hands over 88 social housing units in Tunisia

Doha: Qatar Charity (QC) has handed over 88 social housing units to low-income families in many areas of the Republic of Tunisia, which was implemented with funding from the Qatar Fund For Development (QFFD), with the aim of enabling beneficiaries to live in adequate housing that helps improve their living conditions.

The handover ceremony was attended by several officials of Qatar Charity, directors of regional councils and many guests.

The handover of these housing units come within the framework of a plan that includes the provision of 200 social housing units. Other social housing units will soon be handed over in different governorates of the country.

Also, these social housing units were handed over within the framework of the partnership between the Ministry of Equipment, Housing and Territorial Development, the Regional Council of the Sidi Bouzid Governorate and Qatar Charity.

Some 48 social housing units were distributed to beneficiaries in the Sidi Bouzid Governorate to support the social housing plan in the governorate. The cost of these housing units amounted to QR3m.

The social housing includes 24 residential units in Sidi Ali Ben Aoun and 24 residential units in Meknassy.

These housing units were delivered to beneficiaries in the presence of Anis Daifallah, Governor of Sidi Bouzid, and Faisal Rashid Al Fehaida, assistant to CEO in the Operations and International Cooperation Sector at Qatar Charity.

Some 40 social housing units, which were built by Qatar Charity in the Tunisian city of Kasserine, were handed over to the Ministry of Equipment, Housing and Territorial Development and the Regional Council of the Kasserine Governorate

Each 57-square-meter residential unit consists of a living room, two bedrooms, a kitchen, and a bathroom with the outer lobby surrounded by a wall

Faisal Rashid Al Fehaida, assistant to CEO in the Operations and International Cooperation Sector at Qatar Charity, expressed his thanks and appreciation to the concerned Tunisian authorities for the good coordination regarding the implementation of this project and other projects carried out by Qatar Charity in Tunisia.

He also pointed out that other social housing units will be delivered in different governments of the Republic of Tunisia. For his part, Anis Daifallah, governor of Sidi Bouzid, said that this project was the result of cooperation between the Republic of Tunisia and the State of Qatar and came in support of the government's efforts to provide social housing in the region.

He also stressed the determination of the central and local authorities to continue efforts in this regard within the Tunisian government's plan to develop social housing.

The Governor applauded the efforts made by the State of Qatar and Qatar Charity to provide social housing, underlining the Tunisian authorities' keenness to provide all the necessary facilities for the success of this project and other development projects in the Sidi Bouzid Governorate.

Faisal Rashid Al Fehaida, assistant to CEO in the Operations and International Cooperation Sector at Qatar Charity, met with Dr. Nizaruddin Salmi, Minister of Equipment, Housing and Territorial Development, Shazli Boualak, Governor of the Tunis Governorate, and Ahmed Samawi, Governor of the Manouba Governorate.
