Afghanistan: 5 die in clashes between security personnel, militants


(MENAFN) Provincial police spokesman Abdul Karim Yurash declared that three militants and two Afghan security personnel have died as gunfights erupted in the northern Faryab province on Saturday.

The official added that the clash broke out after Taliban insurgents stormed security checkpoints and the police fired back.

The clashes which kept going for hours have wounded five more militants.

The spokesman confirmed that the militants escaped after suffering three fatalities and five militants.
