Turkish FM, UN official discuss Syrian political process


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ANKARA, Jan 28 (KUNA) -- Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu discussed with UN Special Envoy to Syria Geir Pedersen the political process in Syria, diplomatic sources said on Monday.
According to the Turkish news agency (Anadolu), the sources noted that the Foreign Minister assured Pedersen his country's support for the tasks and aspirations of Turkey in this political framework in Syria.
The Turkish capital, Ankara, is witnessing flurry of diplomacy in terms of resolving the Syrian crisis, most recently Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar's meeting with US special envoy to Syria James Jeffrey last Friday.
Pedersen met in Cairo with the Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry yesterday, on the latest developments in Syria, where they also touched on means to combat terrorism and stop the flow of foreign fighters from entering Syria. (end) rs.aa
