Iraq, Jordan seek oil pipeline


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BAGHDAD, Jan 27 (KUNA) -- Iraqi Oil Minister Thamer Al-Ghadban met on Sunday Jordan's Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Hala Zawati on a pipeline to export crude oil from southern city of Al-Basra to Al-Aqaba port in Jordan.

During the meeting, both ministers discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the field of oil, gas and electricity, Iraq Oil Ministry said in a statement.

They considered ways to enhance the level of technical cooperation in oil and gas extraction, as well as a power grid between the two countries, Al-Ghadbah said.

The discussion also highlighted a memorandum of understanding to be signed after the governments of both countries agreed to supply Jordan with Iraqi oil, the minister added.

On her part, the Jordanian Minister said her visit to Iraq, accompanied with several ministers, came to strengthen the relations between the two countries.

It is just part of visits by the King and Prime Minister of Jordan to discuss subjects of mutual interest, she noted.

The Jordanian minister hoped that the talks would speed up the implementation of joint projects after agreeing on relevant technical procedures. (end) aah,nhq
