New York, US, Jan 24 --Press TV anchor Marzieh Hashemi who was in a US jail for 10 days was freed on Wednesday, Caretaker of Iran's Interest Section in the United States Mehdi Atefat told Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA). Hashemi, a 59-year-old American born Muslim convert who has lived in Iran for years, was detained at St. Louis Lambert International Airport in Missouri on January 13th while in the US to visit her ill brother and other family members. Atefat said no charge was leveled against Hashemi and she was detained as a witness. Acording to the Iranian diplomat, the efforts of his Office and the support of the Islamic Ummah helped the release of Mrs. Hashemi.
