Kazakhstan's Karaganda region increases external trade turnover (Exclusive)

The external trade turnover of the Karaganda region of Kazakhstan amounted to $4.27 billion in 2018, which is an increase of 7 percent compared to 2017, the Economy Department of the region told Trend.

"In particular, the export of goods amounted to $3.46 billion (1.5 percent up year-on-year), and imports totaled $812.1 million (40 percent up). The balance of external trade turnover was positive – $2.65 billion," said the department.

According to the preliminary results of 2018, as many as 269 projects in trade, services and tourism were implemented in the Karaganda region last year, 8 billion tenge were invested, and 1,247 jobs were created. In 2019, it is planned to launch 149 projects.

To support entrepreneurs, programs such as the state program on support to business development Business Roadmap 2020 and the State Program of Productive Employment and Mass Entrepreneurship are being implemented in the region.

The Economy Department of the Karaganda region also noted that the region's budget expenditure amounted to 307.8 billion tenge in 2018.

"The region's 2019 budget is 236.4 billion tenge. These expenses are aimed at the development of the social sphere, transport infrastructure, development of the agro-industrial complex, housing and communal services," the Department informed.
