Iran posts USD290m in seafood exports


(MENAFN) Iran generated USD290 million in its seafood exports which hit 95,617 tons in the first nine months of the Iranian year.

Iranian seafood exports witnessed a surge in weight by 15 percent and a jump in value by 9 percent in nine months.

Seafood from Iran mostly went to China, Vietnam and Thailand among other countries, confirmed Isa Golshahi, an official at Iran Fisheries Organization.

The official added that "close to 21,227 tons of shrimp were exported worth over 102 million dollars, registering a 39-percent and 42-percent rise in volume and value respectively year-on-year."
