Indian police nab 9 suspects over terror connections

(MENAFN) Officials declared that Indian police's anti-terror squad (ATS) in western state of Maharashtra have nabbed nine suspects including a teenager for their alleged connection to terror crimes.

The police official confirmed: "The arrests were made on specific intelligence inputs while investigating the presence of sleeper cells in the state."

The arrests have taken place ahead of India's Republic Day, celebrated on Jan. 26 every year across the country.

"ATS sleuths gathered relevant information about these people and started trailing them for several weeks. They have been arrested for criminal conspiracy and unlawful activities," according to the police official.
