(MENAFN) Naomi Osaka of Japan claimed a 6-4, 6-1 victory in straight sets over Elina Svitolina of Ukraine on Wednesday.
The victory granted the 21-year-old a ticket to the semifinals in the Australian Open, as she demonstrated an extraordinary performance.
Following the game, the U.S. Open champion commented: "for me today I just had one goal and it was to try as hard as I can and not get angry. I didn't do that too well in the last two rounds so I'm really happy."
Svitolina also said following her defeat: "unfortunately I couldn't produce 100 percent of the game that I wanted" due to an injury.
