(MENAFN) Nigeria's government demanded the resignation of its chief justice Walter Onnoghen over breaches of public servants laws.
The chief justice is ahead of being slapped with six counts of inability to disclose his assets and running illegal offshore accounts.
However, Onnoghen refrained from showing up at the code of conduct tribunal for his plea to be presented as a criminal trial ordered.
Counsel to the government Aliu Umar stated: "we have an application that the tribunal should direct the Honorable Chief Justice to step aside pending the determination of the case."
