Four illegal workers from Vietnam and Nepal were jailed at Hong Kong's magistrates' courts for 15 months following operations by the Immigration Department.
Officers raided a restaurant in Yuen Long, the New Territories on January 15 and arrested a 35-year-old man from Nepal who was washing dishes, according to a government release .

After checking his identification, he was found to be an asylum seeker. A person suspected of employing the illegal worker was also arrested and the investigation is ongoing.
In another operation the next day, immigration officers raided a restaurant in Fanling, the New Territories and arrested one female and two male Vietnamese aged between 31 to 57. When intercepted, they were washing dishes.
The four illegal workers were charged at Shatin and Tuen Mun Magistrates' Courts on Friday and Saturday with working illegally. They pleaded guilty to the charges and were each sentenced to 15 months' imprisonment.
