(MENAFN) On Monday, two policemen were murdered and another injured in Iraq's eastern province of Diyala, while an Islamic State (IS) leader was murdered in Salahudin province in central Iraq, security sources affirmed.
A policeman was murdered and another wounded when a group of IS militants raided a police checkpoint close to the town of Abu Sayda, approximately 25 km northeast of Diyala's provincial capital Baquba, said Alaa al-Saadi, from Diyala's Operations Command, informed Xinhua.
In a separate incident, an IS sniper shot dead a policeman while manning a security checkpoint in Imam Wies area, some 55 km northeast of Baquba, al-Saadi emphasized.
After the attack, a security force conducted a search operation in neighboring areas to search for the assailant, he added.
