(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Temperatures in many parts of Oman have plummeted by 2-3°C with Sunday being one of the coldest days of 2019. Many areas witnessed temperatures in single digits with Jebel Shams recording the minimum at little less than 5°C.

Most cities felt the chill as windy conditions brought the temperature down below the historical average witnessed in January. Muscat recorded a high of 23°C and a minimum of 15°C on Sunday, which is below the historical average for January - averaging at a high of 25.1°C and a low of 16.7°C.
Similarly, Buraimi recorded a high of 20°C and low of 9°C against historical average of 23.6°C and 11.4°C, Nizwa 23°C and 12°C (against 26.2°C and 12.3°C), Ibri 20°C and 9°C (against 24.3°C and 13.10°C), and Sohar 24°C and 13°C (against 24.2°C and 14°C) among others.
The Directorate General of Meteorology has said that northwesterly winds will prevail over most of the sultanate. 'Clear to partly cloudy skies are expected along the coastal areas. There will be mainly clear skies over rest of the sultanate with chances of dust raising winds in desert and open areas. There are also chances of low level clouds or fog formations over parts of South Sharqiyah, Buraimi and Dhahirah,' it stated.
