Doha: Qatar Development Bank (QDB) announced today that construction of the second batch of land plots for Al Furjan Souq 2 has begun. It will include a total of 163 stores spread over many areas like Ain Khalid, Luaib, Bani Hajer, Al Aziziya, Al Gharafa, Muaither, Al Shamal, Al Wakra and others.

The first batch of Al Furjan souq had stores in Umm Al Qarn and Al Khor among other areas. The bank said that this phase is 80 percent complete.

CEO of QDB Abdulaziz bin Nasser Al Khalifa said that the land plots will provide all the main services needed in different areas, adding that the initiative will be a good solution in terms of providing the daily needs of goods and services for families.

He added that the current land plots are concentrated in areas outside of cities, to take care of the needs of people there. The 16 land plots are on schedule to be completed by the first half of 2020.

The project is considered a strategic one for Qatar, as it supports the trade sector in the country as part of the 2030 Qatar National Vision. The project will also cater to the expected population increase inside Doha and in cities outside of it.
