Mexico: pipeline blast, fire claim 20 lives, injure 54


(MENAFN) Local authorities declared that over 20 people have died as 54 more were wounded in a pipeline blast in the central Mexican state of Hidalgo on Friday.

The incident took place at about 7:00 p.m. local time (0100 GMT) at a pipeline spot in the community of San Primitivo of the municipality of Tlahuelilpan, when dozens of people rushed to scoop the leaked fuel.

Omar Fayad, governor of Hidalgo confirmed that the blast followed by a blaze claimed more than 20 lives and wounded 54.
