Some 4,000 Algerian illegal migrants killed in Mediterranean in 2018


(MENAFN) Algerian Interior Minister Noureddine Bedoui declared that up to 4,000 Algerian illegal migrants have been killed in the Mediterranean Sea in their attempts to arrive to Europe in 2018.

Bedoui added that about 36,000 others have been uncounted for in the past year while trying to reach Europe.

The minister demanded a comprehensive steps to be issued by all concerned sides, including the authorities, experts and civil society, in order to reach sustainable solution to illegal immigration.

The Algerian authorities have captured around 200 cases of illegal migration and human smuggling, in which 24 people were nabbed, according to Bedoui.
