Emraan Hashmi's Why Cheat India, which got released on January 18, has fallen prey to piracy as it was leaked online by website Tamilrockers.

Reportedly, the movie was leaked a few hours after its theatrical release.

Although Bollywood filmmakers are keen on curbing piracy, they are yet to come up with a solution to fight sites like Tamilrockers.

Here's more on this.

Previously, Tamilrockers has targeted several movies
Piracy

Notably, this isn't the first time Tamilrockers targeted a new release and distributed its copies.

The website is known for uploading pirated copies of English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada movies.

In fact, recent releases like The Accidental Prime Minister, Uri: The Surgical Strike, Viswasam and Petta have also been targeted by this piracy site.

'Why Cheat India' is based on true events
Story

Emraan's Why Cheat India is based on true events and highlights the dark side of the education system in India.

The actor is seen playing the role of a conman in the movie who hires a team of toppers to write exams for other students for money.

The trailer hinted that Emraan, the mastermind, remains unapologetic for his actions.

'Why Cheat India' opened to average reviews
Reviews

While the premise of the story seems interesting, Why Cheat India failed to do justice to it. The movie opened to average reviews from critics and audience.

According to critics, the movie failed to decide its path and left viewers confused about the story.

The execution of Why Cheat India might have been disappointing, but Emraan managed to make a mark with his performance.

'Why Cheat India' gets a low start at box office
Collection

Given the average reviews, Why Cheat India is expected to get a low start at the box office. It earned just Rs. 1.71 crore on its opening day.

Obviously, it needs a miraculous growth in the opening weekend to survive.

But Uri's golden run at the box office and the recent leak by Tamilrockers have only made Why Cheat India's path difficult.
