Kuwait FM sends letter to ICRC chief


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) GENEVA, Jan 18 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's permanent representative at the UN and other international organizations Jamal Al-Ghuneim on Friday handed a letter from Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah to International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) President Peter Maurer.
The letter has something to do with the mechanisms of tackling worldwide humanitarian crises, along with preparations for Kuwait-ICRC strategic dialogue, the Kuwaiti diplomat told KUNA.
He added that he had also delivered a cheque worth USD 3 million to the ICRC chief in order to support his organization's programs for Syrian refugees amid severe cold weather conditions in the region.
On his part, the ICRC chief said in a statement to KUNA following the meeting with the Kuwaiti diplomat that the imminent strategic dialogue between the ICRC and Kuwait is of paramount significance to humanitarian cooperation in the region's countries. (end) ta.mt
