Oman- H E Kalbani honours Al Wafa centre student for winning contest in UAE


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Said bin Saif al Kalbani, Minister of Social Development, has honoured Safaa al Salihia for winning a drawing contest in the UAE.

Safaa is a student at Al Wafa Rehabilitation Centre for Disabled Children in Sohar.

Safaa was honoured for coming first in the Latifa bint Mohammed Award for Childhood Creativity contest in the UAE.

Speaking toMuscat Daily , Safaa said, 'I came first place in Media Cartoons drawing contest. I love drawing about nature, pottery and ornaments. Unfortunately, some people look at a disabled person as incapable. I wanted to prove them wrong.'

About her preparations for the competition, she said, 'Trainer Mariam al Balushi at Al Wafa Rehabilitation Centre for Disabled Children in Sohar prepared a training schedule for me. I practised for several months.

'I thank the trainer because she helped me a lot in winning awards in Gulf countries.

'I hope that all my colleagues participate in such competitions locally and abroad to realise their dreams. I wish I could have my profile gallery which displays all my work.'
