Qatar edge Argentina at IHF Worlds

Doha: Qatar yesterday edged Argentina 26-25 following a stiff competition in their last group match at the IHF Men's World Handball Championship in Copenhagen.

Despite the victory, Qatar could not advanced to the next stage of the tournament with Egypt earning the third slot from the group following a 33-28 victory over Angola, earlier yesterday.

Sweden (8 points), after winning all their matches topped Group D followed by Hungary (6) and Egypt (5) respectively. Top three teams qualified for the second round. Qatar finished fourth with four points and will feature in a classification competition.

Yesterday's win was Qatar's second victory in the tournament besides defeats to Angola, Hungary and Sweden. The Asian Games champions registered their first win against Egypt.

Meanwhile, in yesterday's other matches, Chile beat Saudi Arabia 32-27, Brazil thrash Korea 35-26 while Tunisia claimed full points against Austria after a 32-27 win.
