Qatar- Amir to patronise Police College graduation


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani will patronise today the graduation ceremony of the first batch of graduates of the Ministry of Interior's Qatar Police College. In preparation for the event, a Higher Committee was established under the chairmanship of Major General Abdullah Yousuf al-Mal, adviser to HE the Minister of Interior and vice-president of the Supreme Council of the Police College, to organise the ceremony.

Amir condoles with Kenyan president
His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, His Highness the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani and HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani yesterday sent cables of condolences to Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta over a terror attack on a hotel complex in Nairobi. The death toll from the bomb and gun attack by militants on the upmarket hotel complex rose to 21 yesterday.

48-team World Cup only if Qatar agrees: official
Any decision by FIFA to increase the 2022 World Cup to 48 teams will only be made in agreement with hosts Qatar, a senior official said yesterday. Nasser al-Khater, chief of Tournament Readiness and Experience Group at the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), told journalists in Doha at the moment Qatar was continuing to prepare for a 32-team tournament in three years' time. 'No decision will be made without the agreement of Qatar, this is an important point, he said.
