(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Ukraine and Iraq are agreeing on the removal of obstacles to increasing export and import operations and facilitating the work of Ukrainian and Iraqi companies in the markets of both countries, the press service of the Ukrainian Embassy in Iraq has reported following a meeting between Ukrainian Ambassador Viktor Nedopas and Iraq's Minister of Trade Mohammed Hashim al-Aani.

"The sides discussed a number of issues related to improving the conditions for the development of mutually beneficial businesses in Ukraine and Iraq, opportunities to provide greater assistance to Ukrainian and Iraqi companies in the markets of our countries, and eliminating obstacles to increasing export and import operations," the report reads.

According to the press service, the Iraqi side was informed, among other things, about the willingness of Ukrainian companies to expand the supply to the Iraqi market of goods and services needed to rebuild the infrastructure and industry of the country and meet growing consumer demand for individual commodity groups.

The ambassador also reminded the minister that the Ukrainian side is waiting for a response to his request for holding in the near future the consultations at the level of experts, stipulated by the clauses of the intergovernmental agreement on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation of October 9, 2000, with a view to the governments of Ukraine and Iraq working out recommendations on how to improve bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
