OLD SAYBROOK, Conn. - Jan. 16, 2019 - PRLog -- A Pasta Dinner fundraiser will be held on Saturday, February 2nd, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the VFW of Old Saybrook at 315 Essex Road to benefit Earl Endrich Jr. and his Townline Farms, also known as the Endrich Farm, whose barn was destroyed by a tragic fire in the early morning of December 30th.
The cost of the pasta dinner is $10 per person, with proceeds benefiting Endrich's effort to rebuild his barn and get back to work doing what he loved on his farm, which has been in the Endrich family since 1868. The massive fire consumed the farm's barn, which despite the hours-long efforts of the Old Saybrook Fire Department and surrounding towns' fire departments, was a total loss. The tragic fire also took the life of four oxen and Endrich's beloved donkey Johnny. The four oxen - Rock, Red, Tom, and Lucky - were used to pull logs and timber from the 90 acres of farmland, which was then milled or sold as firewood. Endrich also raises sheep, peacocks and chickens on his farm.
Besides the loss of his beloved animals, Endrich also lost power tools, large farm equipment, a winter supply of hay and other necessary items for daily life on the farm. Cleanup of the barn has already begun, and donations are being accepted to restore Endrich's livelihood working at the farm, as well as purchase the necessary farm equipment and animals to restore the farm to its full working order. A GoFundMe page has been established to assist Endrich at "Support Earl Endrich Barn Fire Recovery" and a special savings account has been established at Essex Savings Bank under the name "Townline Farms Fund" for much-needed donations for Endrich and his family farm.
The pasta dinner is being organized by Jack Dunn, a Junior Firefighter with the Old Saybrook Fire Department, and Kristy Benson, who is Earl's neighbor. The Endrich family has strong ties to the all-volunteer fire department. Endrich's father, Earl Sr., is a 31-year veteran of the Old Saybrook Fire Department.
All are welcome and encouraged to attend this special Pasta Dinner fundraiser on February 2nd, which will also include a raffle whose proceeds will benefit Endrich's efforts to rebuild his family farm, which was established by Endrich's great, great grandfather.
