Qatar- QC thanks supporters of 'Arsal Relief' campaign

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar Charity (QC) has thanked all the supporters of the ‘Arsal Relief' campaign for their 'overwhelming response to an on-air donation campaign broadcast in co-operation with the Qatar Media Corporation's channels Qatar TV, Qatar Radio and Al Quran Al Kareem radio.
Within three hours, the ‘Arsal Relief' campaign raised more than QR214mn. His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani also gave directions to allocate $50mn to support Syrian refugees and displaced persons who suffer tough humanitarian conditions as a result of displacement and the cold winter weather.
In a press statement yesterday, QC said its relief team continues to distribute emergency relief aid to Syrians refugees affected by storms in Lebanon. The team is headed by Faisal al-Fehaida, assistant to the CEO in the Operations and International Partnerships Sector at Qatar Charity.
QC also thanked all commercial, medical, media, sporting and educational organisations and social media influencers who supported the campaign since its launch. Many of these organisations donated part of their sales revenues to the campaign.
Many prominent figures participated in the on-air donation campaign, who said Qatari charitable societies were credible in the eyes of donors and benefactors, both within and outside Qatar.
The list of commercial organisations that contributed to the campaign by donating their sales revenues included many restaurants, coffee shops and commercial stores such as Al Aker Sweets, Coffee Traders, Ma'un Restaurant, Al Baranda Café, L'wzaar Restaurant, Le Gou, MIO Gusto and others.
Bin Muftah Medical Centre, Al Hayat Medical Centre and Moon Light Abayat also contributed to the campaign. Moreover, the list of campaign's supporters included Qatar Basketball Federation and Dar Al Sharq Group.
The campaign was accompanied by several cultural, awareness and interactive activities, which were held at Gulf Mall and Al Khor Mall by the Al Rayyan and Al Khor branches of Qatar Charity Centre for Community Development.
Meanwhile, QC's relief team, led by al-Fehaida, continues with the distribution of urgent relief aid to affected persons. The aid includes necessary winter supplies such as heating fuel, food, blankets, winter clothes and shoes, and other items.
The relief team managed to visit nine camps with 4,000-4,500 Syrian refugees in addition to visiting the Arsal Medical Complex, the only such facility in the region. Medicines were distributed to children and mobile clinics were sent to snow-covered places to provide medical care to patients.
Al-Fehaida said Qatar Charity would carry out a number of relief projects during the next few days based on the assessment of the situation, pointing out that some 80,000 Syrian refugees were living in Arsal in very poor condition, lacking the most basic necessities of life.
QC has urges all philanthropists in Qatar to continue with their support for the campaign as the opportunity to contribute to it will be available for two weeks.
Donations towards the campaign can be made through QC's website (QCH. QA/B0) and application. Donors can also request for a ‘home collector' service through QC's app (QCH.QA/ APP) or dial the charity's hotline, 44667711, to make their contributions. Mobile donations can also be made.
