Arab Maghreb Union shura council praises Kuwait's democratic experiment


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Jan 16 (KUNA) -- Secretary general of the Arab Maghreb Union's (AMU) shura council Said Moqaddam commended on Wednesday Kuwait's democratic experiment shown by the National Assembly which has been playing a vital and key role on local and international arenas.

The democratic practice at the National Assembly is an example for other Arab parliaments to follow, Moqaddam told Al-Dustor news network.

He also appreciated the National Assembly's effective contributions to the sessions of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) that have shown Kuwait's parliamentary diplomacy which moved to international levels, describing it as "effective and influential".

The Kuwaiti parliament has been committed to defending the Palestinian cause and proven the efficiency of Kuwait's parliamentary diplomacy on international levels, he said.

He also lauded National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim's firm stance in defending continually the Palestinian cause, describing it as "honorable".

He said that his visit came upon an invitation by Chairman of Association of Secretaries General of Parliaments (ASGP) Allam Al-Kandari that aims to discuss the Association's resolutions taken during a meeting on June 12 in Cairo.

He referred to forming a committee to prepare a functional guideline to unify the legislative drafting in all Arab countries.

The committee tasked with preparing the guideline convened over two days at the National Assembly and discussed several topics in this file, he made clear. (end) nsh.fn.hm
