An exhibition of the famous Azerbaijani cartoonist Soltan Soltanly has opened at at Irshad Hotel on January 14.
At the opening of the evening, the head of the Islamic Studies Center "Irshad", Professor Rafig Aliyev, Honored Art Worker Ziyadkhan Aliyev, Professor Nizami Tagisoy and others commented on Soltan Soltanly's unusual view of the visual arts.
The artist's works have repeatedly won prizes and received top awards at prestigious international competitions and festivals. His paintings are kept in museums and private collections around the world.
More than 20 works of the artist, created by him over the past two years were presented to art connoisseurs.
Each of his work contains a certain idea and philosophy.
The series of art works "Centaurs" looks particularly peculiar - in ancient Greek mythology, wild mortal creatures with the head and torso of a man on a horse's body, inhabitants of mountains and forest thickets. According to legend, the centaurs were originally the embodiment of mountain rivers and tumultuous streams. In heroic myths, some centaurs are educators of heroes, others are hostile to them. As a rule, different violent temper and incontinence. In Soltan Soltanly works, the centaurs are very kind creatures with a human soul.
The exhibition is open until January 17.
Soltan Soltanly successfully represents Azerbaijan at international exhibitions and competitions, where his works are often awarded with prizes.
In 1991, Soltan came to Baku to enter the former Azerbaijan State School of Arts named after Azim Azimzade, but he failed. After returning to Agsu , he increased his contacts with the nature and tried to feel the nature profoundly.
Soltan's father was against his son's wish. That is why Soltan drewhis paintings secretly.
He had only a way to come to Baku in order get high education. He had also a great interest in the literature. So in 1993 Soltan entered the philology faculty of Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University and graduated it in 1997.
Having cometo Baku, Soltan got interested in painting very much, he went to the exhibitions and visited the famous painters' and sculptors' studios, wrote articles about them. His intention was decisive: to enter the School of Arts.
The paintings by Soltan Soltanlyare the mature examples of the modern art and painting.The intellect and philosophy are the main peculiarities for Soltan's activity.
He tries to enlarge the dream world of the humanity with his works and to show the essence of the real world.
