First Indian woman to climb sacred mountain


(MENAFN) A woman has climbed a mountain in India, where only males were permitted so far for religious believes.

Dhanya Sanal's climbed the summit of Agasthyakoodam in southern Kerala state after a court law in November.

Local tribespeople stand against women climbing it for its statue of a Hindu sage associated with celibacy.

Ms Sanal, aged 38, declared that she had not been blocked by locals or demonstrators.
