Italy busts 115 kg of pure smuggled cocaine


(MENAFN) Authorities declared that Italian police captured 115 kilograms of pure cocaine in the southern port of Gioia Tauro in a wide crackdown against the 'Ndrangheta crime syndicate.

The drug was concealed aboard a cargo ship inside a container bearing paper reels from San Antonio in Chile.

The ship arrived in Gioia Tauro after a stopover in the Panamanian port of Rodman, and its last destination was the port of Livorno in central Italy.

The busted cocaine have a value of around USD 26.3 million on the market, according to Italy's finance military police and customs agency conducting the crackdown.
