Erdogan: Latest statement of US President greatly upsets Turkey

The latest statement of US President Donald Trump greatly upset Turkey, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, Trend reports referring to the country's media.

Erdogan noted that he held a telephone conversation with Trump, during which a number of issues were discussed, including the creation of a security zone in northern Syria, which Turkey intends to create on its own.

Erdogan also noted that Turkey is determined to fight terrorism in Syria's north.

Turkey is a reliable country for refugees, he said.

"There were over 300,000 ethnic Kurds among the Syrian refugees who arrived in Turkey and this is a clear indication that Turkey does not quarrel with ethnic Kurds," he added.

US President Donald Trump has recently stated on his Twitter page: "Starting the long overdue pullout from Syria while hitting the little remaining ISIS territorial caliphate hard, and from many directions. Will attack again from existing nearby base if it reforms. Will devastate Turkey economically if they hit Kurds. Create 20 mile safe zone...."
