Jordan- King meets French FM

Amman, Jan. 13 (Petra) -- His Majesty King Abdullah II on Sunday met with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian and the accompanying delegation to discuss strategic relations between Jordan and France, in addition to the latest regional developments.

King Abdullah expressed Jordan's appreciation for France's support, especially for development projects, stressing the Kingdom's commitment to working with France to achieve stability in the region.

Discussing the peace process, His Majesty called for stepping up international efforts to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on the basis of the two-state solution, leading to an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. The King stressed France's important role in this regard.

Discussions also covered the need to reach a political solution to the Syrian crisis that preserves the territorial integrity of Syria and the unity of its people.

Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Adviser to His Majesty and Director of the Office of His Majesty Manar Dabbas, and French Ambassador to Jordan David Bertolotti attended the meeting.
