Consumers are looking for smart home systems which save money, effort: Survey


(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) A new global survey was carried out by the US-based home appliance manufacturer, Whirlpool Corporation, in an attempt to understand consumers' desire for features in future smart homes. Responses from more than 2,000 homeowners and renters were collected in four countries, including the US, India, Brazil, and France.

The survey shows that consumers are looking for smart features which are easy to understand, practical, and present efficient additions to their everyday household tasks. The findings underscore the need for practical and efficient solutions for the smart home.

Smart homes are a significant step in the evolutionary ladder for residential spaces, and their primary aim is to make living more comfortable, convenient, secure, entertaining, and sustainable.

A vast majority of consumers, representing 72%, are looking for simpler as well as faster ways to help manage their lives. Over half of the respondents admitted that cooking with 52%, and doing the laundry with 58%, take up more than the desired amount of time.

Most of the participants in the survey, 78%, are aspiring for features which allow them to save money and reduce the usage of facilities. Three in four respondents (74%) are interested in smart appliance features which reduce food waste and water usage. Meanwhile, two in three respondents, making up 64%, say it is important that their appliances help save on electricity's costs.

Two in three respondents (69%) actively seek products that can be personalised to their unique preferences. The global smart home market is expected to reach an estimated $107.4bn by 2023, according to the market research firm ReportLinker. The European continent is witnessing the fastest growth globally.
