Bulgaria: 2 snowboarders die in avalanche

(MENAFN) The country's Red Cross declared that two snowboarders have died on Friday at noon in an avalanche close to the largest Bulgarian ski resort of Bansko.

It added that the avalanche was triggered by the two snowboarders on the western slopes of Todorka peak in the Pirin Mountain.

It confirmed that the victims were pronounced dead by the time mountain rescuers arrived.

Despite repeated alerts by the mountain rescue service, the practice of ignoring information on avalanche threat and safe action in the high mountains continues, according to the country's Red Cross.
