Georgia: 15 die in Swine flu outbreak


(MENAFN) A health official of the Caucasus country declared that the H1N1 flu virus, also called swine flu, has killed 15 people in the last weeks in Georgia.

Amiran Gamkrelidze, director of the country's National Center for Disease Control and Public Health confirmed: "I confirm the report about the death of a 27-year-old man at Kutaisi Referral Hospital today. Unfortunately, we have 15 laboratory-confirmed cases of death during the current flu season."

He urged people to quickly receive medical care at hospitals if respiratory symptoms are discovered.

Meanwhile, the Georgian Health Ministry stated that the government would provide cost-free medical care for all flu patients.
